Railway's 4 Lakh Crore Plan to Multi-Track Busy Routes

Indian Railways has proposed an ambitious plan worth 4 Lakh Crore to multi-track seven of its busiest routes across the country. The proposed plan aims to enhance railway capacity, improve efficiency, and reduce congestion on these key routes.

The seven identified routes for multi-tracking are Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Kolkata, Kolkata-Chennai, Chennai-Mumbai, Mumbai-Kolkata, Delhi-Chennai, and Chennai-Howrah. These routes are crucial for both passenger and freight transportation and witness heavy traffic throughout the year.

The plan involves the construction of additional rail lines parallel to the existing ones, which will enable the operation of more trains simultaneously. This will not only increase the capacity of these routes but will also allow smoother and faster movement of trains, resulting in reduced travel time for passengers.

Apart from reducing congestion, the multi-tracking project will also contribute to the modernization of Indian Railways. The new rail lines will be built using the latest technologies, ensuring safer and more efficient operations. Additionally
