To acquire land for PMRDA metro line 3 project, PMC serves notices

For the Shivajinagar to Hinjewadi metro line 3, which is being planned by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued notices to various establishments. The PMRDA had written to the PMC requesting permission to purchase additional land on Ganeshkhind Road and transfer it for use in construction of Metro Line 3. PMC's municipal commissioner, Vikram Kumar, stated: "The municipal corporation has served notices to properties on Ganeshkhind Road for handover of land as per the PMRDA letter.

The width of Ganeshkhind Road is 45 metres as per the development plan (DP), said Rajendra Thorat, deputy engineer of the land acquisition department, PMC. However, due to the footpath and other work, the road's current width is 36 metres. The PMRDA now requires additional property for the metro project. As a result, we have served notices to nearby properties, he said.

The land acquisition department of PMC's Mehendra Ghar junior engineer stated, "We have served notices to 23 homes located on both sides of Ganeshkhind Road. These include residential and business buildings including Cosmos Bank, ABCL, Kolte Patil and Amar Builders, Government Polytechnic, Goyal Ganga Group, and entrepreneur Arun Firodia's mansion. Eight of the 23 property owners have expressed a favourable opinion on the land transfer.”

"We require 4.5 metres of land on each side of the road for road widening. We will compensate the owners in terms of floor space index (FSI) and transfer development rights (TDR). The handover is prepared by Goyal Ganga Group, Amar Builders, and Cosmos Bank. The PMC has begun arguing with and persuading the property owners, according to Ghar.
