Mundra Port bid, the only for Kerala's Azhikkal port project

Mundra Port and SEZ Ltd. has submitted its bid  to the global tender floated by the Kerala government to develop Azhikkal port in Kannur on public-private partnership (PPP) basis. In fact, Mundra Port was the only company in the fray when the tender period drew to a close on 29 October.

The state government has pegged the outlay at Rs 463 crore and according to Port Department, Mundra Port has submitted a proposal for a Rs 3,000-crore project to be implemented in two phases. The company has also offered four per cent revenue share to the State Government over a concession period of 30 years.

Azhikkal is one among 17 notified ports identified by the State Government to be developed through the PPP route. The port is located midway between the major ports of Mangalore in Karnataka and Kochi.
