DRDO Demonstrates Next Generation Defence Capabilities

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Ministry of Defence conducted consecutive flight tests to demonstrate next generation defence capabilities on 10 and 11 June 2026. The demonstrations focused on multi layered ballistic missile defence and a medium range anti ship capability. Three flight tests were executed to validate layered responses against long range ballistic missile threats and to assess interceptor performance under operational conditions. Senior officials observed the trials to review performance closely.\n\nThe multi layered ballistic missile defence capability was demonstrated with successful interceptor engagements against representative targets. DRDO stated that the systems were designed and developed with the latest technologies to address emerging missile threats and to ensure layered interception at different altitudes. The outcomes validated sensor interceptor integration and command and control procedures under realistic engagement scenarios. Officials described the performance as meeting design objectives while highlighting areas for further refinement with industry partners collaboratively.\n\nThe maiden flight test of the Naval Anti Ship Missile Medium Range, identified as NASM MR, was carried out successfully to validate anti ship engagement parameters. Trials addressed guidance seeker performance flight stability and target acquisition at medium ranges under sea clutter conditions. Officials noted that the combined missile demonstrations enhanced naval strike options and contributed to credible deterrence across maritime approaches. The events reinforced operational confidence in indigenous capability and industry collaboration for development.\n\nSenior officials of DRDO and the defence forces witnessed the flight tests and monitored the execution of planned scenarios. Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh conveyed congratulations to DRDO and lauded the successful demonstration of critical technologies that enhance national deterrence and operational readiness. The Secretary Department of Defence R and D and Chairman DRDO Rajesh Kumar Singh closely monitored trials and commended the combined efforts of DRDO and industry partners in meeting test objectives and timelines.
