UPSIDA Approves Eight New Logistics and Warehousing Projects

The Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) has approved eight new logistics and warehousing projects with an estimated investment of Rs eight bn under the Uttar Pradesh Warehousing and Logistics Policy-2022. The authority said the policy encourages investors to set up logistics and storage units on private land through incentives, financial assistance and tax exemptions to strengthen the state supply chain. The policy framework combines fiscal incentives with procedural facilitation to attract private capital and to lower the cost of storage and transport for agricultural stakeholders.

The newly approved projects comprise five silos, two warehousing units and one logistics project to be established in Unnao, Auraiya, Balrampur, Shravasti, Sultanpur, Lucknow, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Hapur. These projects are planned on nearly 110 acres and are expected to bolster safe storage and movement of agricultural produce and industrial goods across the region. The geographical spread of the new units is expected to improve connectivity between production centres and consumption markets and to reduce transit times for perishable goods.

With these approvals UPSIDA has now sanctioned a total of 61 projects under the Warehousing and Logistics Policy-2022 and the Program Implementation Plan policy, which will be developed over nearly 810 acres. The cumulative proposed investment exceeds Rs 129 bn and the projects are intended to improve safe storage capacity for foodgrains, provide enhanced storage and logistics facilities to farmers and support the creation of modern distribution infrastructure. The authority also anticipated that expanded storage capacity will support price stabilisation efforts and contribute to broader economic resilience in rural areas.

Officials indicated that the measures will accelerate development of multi-modal logistics hubs, warehouse clusters and modern distribution centres and will aim to reduce post-harvest losses and supply chain inefficiencies. The authority noted that incentives and streamlined approvals under the policy framework are designed to attract private investment and facilitate faster implementation of logistics infrastructure across the state. Officials highlighted that coordinated planning with other infrastructure initiatives will be crucial for timely completion and operational efficiency.
