Northern Railway Issues Tenders for 2.79 MW Solar Projects

The Northern Railway, Moradabad division, has announced two tenders for solar projects with a total capacity of 2.791 MW. These installations will be set up across residential and service buildings, as well as level crossing gates. The deadline for bid submission is February 27, 2025, with bid openings scheduled for the same day.

Both projects require the design, supply, testing, and commissioning of solar systems. The installations will use monocrystalline passivated emitter and rear cell (Mono PERC) half-cut type modules, string inverters with maximum power point tracking and remote data logging, and aluminum mounting structures.

The first tender, with a capacity of 1.229 MW, is designated for residential buildings within the division. It requires an earnest money deposit of Rs 481,000 and a performance guarantee amounting to 3 per cent of the contract value. The estimated project cost is Rs 662.9 million.

The second tender, with a capacity of 1.562 MW, includes a 1.527 MW installation at service buildings and a 35 kW system for level crossing gates. This tender mandates an earnest money deposit of Rs 564,000 and a performance bank guarantee of 3 per cent of the contract value. The estimated cost is Rs 829.8 million.

Both projects must be commissioned within six months of the contract award and include ten years of comprehensive maintenance services after a one-year warranty. Joint ventures and consortiums are not permitted to bid.

Eligible bidders must meet experience criteria based on similar completed projects over the past seven years and maintain an average annual contractual turnover equal to or exceeding the advertised project value. Non-compliance with project requirements may result in penalties or debarment.

Separately, the Railway Energy Management Company has invited bids for 500 MW of renewable energy supply to the Indian Railways.
