NTPC Marks Golden Jubilee and 51st Raising Day in Mumbai

NTPC Limited, India’s largest integrated energy company, celebrated its Golden Jubilee Year and 51st Raising Day with pride at its Western Region I Headquarters in Mumbai. The event commemorated NTPC’s five-decade journey from a single-unit operation in 1975 to becoming India’s top power producer and a global clean-energy leader.
The ceremony began with the flag hoisting by E. Satya Phani Kumar, Regional Executive Director (West-I), followed by the NTPC Geet. Addressing employees and their families, Shri Phani Kumar highlighted NTPC’s installed capacity of 84,848 MW, another 32,453 MW under construction, and its vision to achieve 244 GW by 2037 through diversification into renewables, hydro, nuclear and green hydrogen.
He cited NTPC’s strong financial performance, with a profit after tax of Rs 9,428 crore in the first half of FY 2025–26, and e-procurement worth Rs 197 billion through the GeM portal. He also underlined NTPC’s recent honours, including TIME World’s Best Companies 2025, the Generation Company of the Year Award, the CII–ITC CSR Excellence Award, and global HR accolades such as Brandon Hall, ATD BEST, ET Human Capital Gold, and the UN Women WEPs Award for the Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM).
Recognising Regional Achievements
Shri Phani Kumar applauded the performance of Solapur, Mouda, Anta, Kawas, Jhanor, and Ratnagiri (RGPPL) stations for operational efficiency and sustainability. He highlighted 57 CSR projects worth over Rs 810 million across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Goa, focused on healthcare, education, women’s empowerment, skill development, and environment protection—aligned with the UN SDGs.
He further praised the success of the GEM initiative, benefiting over 200 girls, and NTPC’s education projects, including 30 science laboratories and smart classrooms in government schools.
The event also recognised the Corporate Communications Department, winner of four PRCI Global Communication Conclave awards, and its impactful campaigns such as NTPC branding at Mumbai Airport T2 and the State-Level Painting Competition under BEE, which saw participation from 800 schools across Maharashtra.
Concluding the celebrations, Phani Kumar thanked employees and partners for their dedication and reaffirmed NTPC’s mission to “light up every fourth bulb in India.” The event concluded with a cake-cutting and balloon-release ceremony, followed by awards distribution to winners of the Vigilance Awareness Week competitions.
