Patel Engineering Declared L1 Bidder For Rs 15.93 bn Nepal Project

Patel Engineering has been declared the L1 bidder for a Nepal hydropower project with a tender value of Rs 1,593 crore. The designation follows the completion of the bid evaluation carried out by the project owner and signifies that the company submitted the lowest evaluated offer. The project value translates to Rs 15,930 million (mn) and to Rs 15.93 billion (bn) for reporting, with million used below and billion thereafter.

The L1 status is subject to the usual administrative formalities prior to contract award and does not itself constitute a signed contract. Finalisation will proceed through commercial discussions and the completion of statutory and regulatory clearances as required by the awarding authority. Once a contract is executed, mobilisation for engineering, procurement and construction works will commence under the terms agreed with the client.

The project forms part of Patel Engineering's wider hydropower portfolio and will add to its order book on formal award. The company will undertake major civil works, installation of hydro mechanical equipment and associated electrical generation infrastructure as per the contract scope. The execution phase will be managed by the firm’s project teams and specialist contractors with an emphasis on schedule adherence and quality control. Financial management and project financing arrangements will align with the contractual milestones.

The award reinforces the company’s presence in regional infrastructure markets and underlines continued demand for cross border hydropower development. Stakeholders will monitor contract implementation and its contribution to the company’s revenue recognition over the coming quarters. Patel Engineering has been advised to provide further disclosures on project milestones and cash flow implications in line with applicable reporting standards. The company’s operational experience in similar projects will guide delivery once formal contracts are in place.
