Prime Minister Dedicates Rs 200 Billion (bn) Projects In Vav-Tharad

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stones, inaugurated schemes and dedicated development projects in Vav-Tharad in Banaskantha district amounting to Rs 200 billion (bn). The events comprised multiple infrastructure and welfare measures intended to improve connectivity and socio-economic conditions across North Gujarat. The announcements were made during a gathering after festival observances and were presented as part of a long term development initiative.\n\nThe Prime Minister noted arrival at Deesa airbase and described its strategic value given its proximity of 130 kilometres to the international border and the completion of a previously stalled airport expansion. He recalled his long association with the Vav-Tharad area from his days as an organisational worker and reflected on local food traditions observed during extended visits. The narrative linked personal memories to a sustained programme of regional development.\n\nThe projects announced cover roads, rail, energy and housing, with specific road upgrades and the dedication of the Ahmedabad-Dholera expressway corridor among the schemes. Rail gauge conversion from Himmatnagar to Khedbrahma and a new train service linking Khedbrahma, Himmatnagar and Asarwa were described as measures to connect tribal areas to the national broad gauge network. Officials framed improved connectivity as a means to link villages to markets, farmers to opportunities and youth to employment.\n\nEnergy transmission works associated with the Khavda Renewable Energy Park were described as enabling the evacuation of 4,500 MW of generation, supporting industrial growth and new investment. The Prime Minister referenced the launch of the Charanka solar park in 2010 as an early step that contributed to Gujarat's emergence in renewables. It was noted that around 40,000 families received pucca houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana at the event, illustrating the combination of infrastructure and welfare.\n\nThe statement reviewed a quarter century of continuous state development, cited approvals for municipal reforms and referenced a state budget now exceeding four trillion (tn). Speakers underlined that sustained trust across governance levels was essential to maintain momentum and argued that India continues to pursue stability and development despite global uncertainties.
