New airport plannned in Noida

The Group of Ministers (GoM) on greenfield airports is planning to develop a new airport in Greater Noida. The GoM, headed by Finance Minister, Pranab Mukherjee includes the techno-feasibility of the Jevar airport coming up. Currently, the rules do not allow an airport to come up within 150 km of an existing airport. The GoM will consider whether allowing the airport to become operational will violate the Operation Management and Development Agreement (OMDA), signed with the GMR-led consortium. The proposal has been sent to the Centre by the Uttar Pradesh Government.
