Centum Secures HAL Order For AESA Radar System

Centum Electronics Limited has received an order from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited for the design and development of Active Electronically Scanned Array radar systems for the Utility Helicopter–Maritime platform, the company announced in Bengaluru. The order marks a milestone in Centum's role in developing indigenous defence electronics and reflects an expanding partnership with HAL. The programme will deliver systems intended to detect, classify and track multiple maritime targets to enhance operational and surveillance capabilities.

The Phase one scope covers design and development to be delivered over the next two financial years. The Phase one purchase order is valued at Rs 660 million (mn) and has a gross value of Rs 780 million (mn) inclusive of GST. The Phase one work is expected to establish the technical baseline and support subsequent production decisions.

The programme is expected to progress to Phase two after successful execution of Phase one, subject to contractual terms and programme requirements. Phase two has an indicative estimated value of Rs five billion (bn) and a gross value of about Rs five point nine billion (bn) inclusive of GST. Phase two envisages serial production and supply of AESA radar systems over a period of five years.

The AESA radar programme offers Centum an opportunity to demonstrate system-level design, development and manufacturing capabilities in advanced radar and mission-critical defence electronics while strengthening its long-standing relationship with HAL. Centum is one of India’s leading electronics system design and manufacturing companies serving defence, aerospace, space, industrial, transportation and medical sectors with capabilities spanning concept to commissioning. The company will proceed with execution in accordance with the terms agreed with HAL and applicable regulatory requirements.

How Hormuz is Hijacking Indian Highways

At the recently held RAHSTA Round Table on 29th April in Pune, and earlier during our webinars for Cement Expo by Indian Cement Review and by FIRST Construction Council on manufacturing construction equipment for the world, one thread lay common: the industry is being subjected to a cost-push chain reaction moving from crude oil → freight/insurance → steel, cement fuel, bitumen, polymers, packaging, logistics and finally project margins.
