GNIDA forms committee to assess structural safety of high-rises

The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has formed a committee to assess the structural safety of high-rise buildings after the death of two residents of Chintels Paradiso Society of Sector-109, Gurugram.

GNIDA will prepare a format in 15 days. Moreover, the builder will have to provide the details of structural safety in the same format, prepared by GNIDA, followed by issuing the completion or occupancy certificate. The structural safety certificate will be uploaded on the website so that homebuyers can invest in the right property.

The committee will study the provision of the structural safety certificate with the help of IIT Delhi or a similar institute.

The proposal will be placed before the board meeting and will be implemented after getting approval.

Chief Minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar, has directed the Town and Country Planning Department to identify dangerous buildings based on complaints from the Resident Welfare Associations or any other agency and conduct a structural audit.

The department had also been asked to conduct a structural audit at the cost of the coloniser to avoid any harm to the residents of these housing societies.

The Town and Country Planning Department will also conduct a structural audit by the reputed government institutions or Structural Engineers empanelled by the department before providing the occupation certificate to any society.

Gurgaon administration has also directed the residents of the NBCC Green View to vacate the building by 1 March 2022 as it is unsafe to reside there.

Deputy Commissioner of Gurgaon, Nishant Kumar Yadav, has directed the NBCC society to bear the cost of shifting, and if any resident wants to live in the house, their rent will be paid by NBCC.
