Govt asks private construction sites to follow 14-point rules in Delhi

In order to avoid dust pollution, the Delhi government has instructed all private construction sites to adhere to a set of 14 guidelines, according to Gopal Rai, Minister for Environment, Forest & Wildlife, Development, Delhi government.

All state-run agencies engaged in construction work in Delhi were summoned to a review meeting by the AAP-led government and were told to submit their action plans to prevent dust pollution by September 21.

Many private agencies are active in construction projects in the city, Rai told the media. He added that a meeting was held with over 50 such companies, including L&T and Shapoorji.

The minister went on to say that the government also discussed the issues that arose during the construction project last year.

Building sites should be covered from all sides with tin sheds, according to the 14-point guidelines.

Anti-smog guns will be required for sites larger than 20,000 square metres. Coverage should also be provided for vehicles transporting construction materials.

Waste from construction and demolition should not be dumped along the roadside. The guidelines also prohibit grinding stones in the open.
