HC orders Karnataka government to name REAT chair

The high court noted that it is essential to appoint a chairperson and members of the Real Estate Regulatory Appellate Tribunal without delay, even though Lok Sabha elections have been announced. The court emphasised that proceedings regarding this matter have been ongoing since January 22. Justice M Nagaprasanna instructed the state government to take necessary actions before April 15. He stated in his order that it's important to highlight that the decision has been made in the specific circumstances of this case, emphasising the necessity of establishing the tribunal and appointing members to Rera.

Mathew John, a resident of Bengaluru, had filed a petition requesting consideration of his representation for appointment to the tribunal. This petition was lodged due to the vacant positions of members since June 2, 2023.
