IIM Nagpur Secures 3,455 Sq M Land In MIHAN For Commercial Complex

The Indian Institute of Management Nagpur (IIM Nagpur) has been allotted 3,455 square metres of land within the Multi-modal International Hub for Aviation and Logistics in Nagpur, known as MIHAN, for the development of a commercial complex. The allotment was announced by local authorities as part of efforts to strengthen the institute's infrastructure and industry engagement. The land parcel adjoins institutional and logistical facilities that support academic and commercial activities.

IIM Nagpur intends to develop the site as a mixed-use commercial complex designed to host industry partners, research offices and incubator facilities aimed at supporting entrepreneurship and knowledge transfer. The commercial complex is expected to provide a steady revenue stream to support academic programmes and campus development while enhancing opportunities for student internships and collaboration with corporate entities. Planning documents indicate a focus on flexible office space, meeting facilities and amenities that align with the needs of both startups and established firms.

The MIHAN special economic and logistics zone offers strategic connectivity by air, road and rail, which the institute considers advantageous for attracting corporate tenants and research collaborators. The location is likely to position IIM Nagpur closer to the regional commercial ecosystem and facilitate partnerships that leverage campus resources for applied research and management training. Observers note that leveraging such strategic sites can accelerate industry engagement for emerging educational institutions.

Project execution will proceed through statutory approvals followed by phased construction and tenant mobilisation, according to institute plans. IIM Nagpur will oversee the development while seeking partnerships and professional management to operate the complex at scale. The institute anticipates that the commercial complex will strengthen its financial sustainability and broaden practical learning platforms for students and faculty.
