MHADA to provide prefabricated homes to flood victims in Mahad

The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) will construct ready-to-move-in prefabricated homes for residents of Taliye village near Mahad whose homes were previously destroyed by floods and landslides.

Housing minister Jitendra Awhad asserted that MHADA will order the prefabricated homes and deliver them to Taliye village in the coming weeks.

According to Awhad, the homes will be constructed using Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) technology, with up to 100 homes expected to be completed in the coming weeks.

MHADA will cover the entire cost as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, he said. These houses will be weather-resistant.

MHADA, according to Awhad, will take full responsibility for the reconstruction and resettlement of Taliye village in Mahad, Raigad. This task has been assigned to Awhad by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Nationalist Congress Party Chief Sharad Pawar.

The prefabricated homes will be outfitted with all of the necessary appliances and amenities. These homes will also be able to withstand rain.

The homes will be built in Bhuj and then transported to Raigad, according to officials.

Officials cited that the PEBs are engineered in a factory and assembled on site.

PEBs are usually steel structures.

Built-up sections are fabricated to exact sizes in the factory, then transported and bolted together on site.

This structural concept is commonly used in the construction of industrial buildings, subway stations, and warehouses.
