Panvel City municipal corp accepts CIDCO's offer for physical infra

The Panvel City Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has accepted CIDCO's proposal to provide physical infrastructure and services in the Panvel civic area to itself.

The handover of services has been decided upon with effect from January 1, 2022. It was determined to sign the deal for the handover of services in the meeting between CIDCO and Panvel civic authorities held on December 27.

The civic body chief has asked CIDCO to achieve the ongoing civil works, guarantee all defunct streetlights are in working condition and assure that the STP's non-operational machinery are made functional.

Panvel Municipal Commissioner Ganesh Deshmukh urged the CIDCO Managing Director, Dr Sanjay Mukherjee, to stop imposing 'Service Charges' on the residents in CIDCO nodes under Panvel civic jurisdiction. Rebel BJP corporator from Kharghar, Leena Garad, who has filed a PIL in HC against PCMC imposing retrospective property tax and claiming double taxation burden on citizens by CIDCO and PCMC, told the media that all property owners in CIDCO nodes have paid to CIDCO, via the builders, power supply and infrastructure development costs, water resources development costs and drainage lines charges and sewerage treatment facility. Thus, the Panvel civic body must accept the handover of services from CIDCOonly after the basic infrastructure facilities are achieved by CIDCO.
