Shapoorji Pallonji lowest bidder in Central Vista segment

Construction major Shapoorji Pallonji and Company Ltd emerged as the lowest bidder for the Rajpath redevelopment project after quoting Rs 477.08 crore, which is 4.99% less than the estimated cost, as per Central Public Works Department(CPWD).

The Rajpath redevelopment project includes large scale stonework, construction of underpasses, underground amenities blocks and horticulture work.

Tata Projects Ltd quoted the second-lowest bid amount of Rs 488.78 crore for the redevelopment project which is being executed under the government's Rs 13,500 crore Central Vista revamp project.

In its tender, CPWD which is implementing the Central Vista project said the redevelopment work of Central Vista Avenue would be executed in a phased manner for some parts of Rajpath to be available for visitors.

The Rajpath Redevelopment Project — the nation's power corridor envisages a new triangular Parliament building, revamping of the three-km-long Rajpath from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate, a common central secretariat, a new Vice President Enclave, and new prime minister residence and PMO.

Tata Projects Ltd had secured the tender work for the construction of the new Parliament building in September last year.

The CPWD said on completion of the redevelopment of Rajpath, a separate supplementary agreement for the operation of services and comprehensive maintenance would be inked for five years with the contractor.

The Supreme Court recently gave the green signal to the Central Vista revamp project, holding there was "no infirmity" in the grant of environment clearance and permissions for change of land use.
