Berger Paints Q1 Net Profit Rises 29% to Rs 4.05 Bn

Berger Paints India reported a 28.6 per cent year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 4.05 billion for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, supported by strong growth across its decorative and automotive businesses.

Consolidated revenue from operations increased by 12 per cent to Rs 35.83 billion, compared with Rs 32 billion in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. EBITDA, excluding other income, rose by 15 per cent to Rs 6.07 billion from Rs 5.28 billion.

On a standalone basis, revenue from operations grew by 12.7 per cent to Rs 32.26 billion, against Rs 28.62 billion in the year-ago period. Standalone EBITDA increased by 12.6 per cent to Rs 5.62 billion, while net profit rose by 25.5 per cent to Rs 3.68 billion.

The company said improving demand momentum from the previous quarter continued during Q1 FY27. Revenue growth outpaced volume growth, supported by price increases, while the decorative and automotive segments remained the key performance drivers.

Demand for waterproofing, construction chemicals and wood coatings remained healthy. The company also expanded its premium portfolio through the launch of Kolor Plus and a new metallics range. Network expansion and investments in urban markets where Berger Paints has a lower market share also supported growth.

The automotive coatings business maintained strong momentum, aided by lower financing costs and GST reductions. However, other industrial segments recorded slower growth as price increases were implemented only towards the end of the quarter. The company expects the full benefit of these revisions to support revenue and profitability in the second quarter.

Berger Becker and Berger Nippon, the company’s joint ventures, delivered strong growth, while subsidiary businesses performed in line with expectations.

Abhijit Roy, Managing Director and CEO of Berger Paints India, said crude-linked raw material inflation and supply disruptions caused by the West Asia conflict affected gross margins. However, financial controls and operational efficiencies helped the company deliver operating margins ahead of its guidance range.

The company expects improving domestic demand and favourable monsoon progress to support growth, although foreign exchange volatility, geopolitical uncertainty and raw material inflation remain near-term risks.
