Arjun Ram Meghwal Leads Plantation Drive Under Swachhta Pakhwada

On 14 April 2026 the Union Minister of State with independent charge for Law and Justice, Arjun Ram Meghwal, led a plantation drive and participated in Shramdaan at Windsor Place Roundabout, NDMC Park, Janpath, New Delhi, as part of the ongoing Swachhta Pakhwada. The Minister planted a sapling and urged officials and citizens to contribute to tree planting efforts across urban and institutional spaces to bolster green cover and public awareness of cleanliness and sustainability.

He was joined by the Law Secretary, Dr Rajiv Mani, and officers and staff of the Department of Legal Affairs, whose participation the Ministry said fostered a spirit of collective responsibility towards nature. The Minister drew attention to the teachings and vision of Dr B. R. Ambedkar in shaping constitutional ideals of equality, liberty and fraternity rooted in Indian culture and tradition and referenced the teachings of Sant Kabir to underline the cultural importance of planting trees.

Following the plantation, the Minister took part in Shramdaan within the park premises, demonstrating the principles of Swabhav Swachhata and Sanskar Swachhata through hands on effort alongside Ministry personnel. The event formed part of the broader Swachh Bharat Mission and sought to reduce environmental degradation, enhance urban green cover and instil practices that support ecological balance. The Department of Legal Affairs reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a clean and hygienic working environment and to promoting sustainable routines.

The Minister commended officers and staff for enthusiastic participation and reiterated the need to adopt eco friendly practices in daily life to consolidate environmental gains. The Law Secretary observed that a clean and hygienic workplace improves efficiency and contributes to a positive atmosphere for all and appealed for workplaces to be kept clean, organised and pleasant as a contribution towards achieving the objectives of Viksit Bharat. The Ministry recorded the initiative as part of ongoing national campaigns.
