Honda Bullish On India's Two-Wheeler Market To Roll Out New Products

Honda has expressed confidence in India's two-wheeler market after wholesale volumes rose to 21,705,974 units in FY26 from 19,607,332 units in FY25, an increase of 10.7 per cent according to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers data. The company signalled plans to introduce new models and to strengthen both domestic business and exports. Honda described India as a key market for its global strategy and emphasised its focus on sustainable long-term value.

Otani, a senior Honda executive, said the industry was expected to continue its growth trajectory but at a more moderate pace and that the company remained focused on delivering sustainable growth in FY27. He indicated optimism for the first half of the year on the back of healthy domestic demand and positive industry fundamentals. He cautioned that the outlook for the second half would depend on external factors, including the monsoon, which influences rural incomes and demand, and geopolitical developments that could affect logistics costs and raw material prices.

He outlined a product pipeline intended to align with evolving customer needs and noted plans to introduce new models in the second half of the year as business activity typically picked up from the Diwali season, without providing further details. He underscored the importance of both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) offerings, saying the company would respond proactively to market dynamics. Honda reiterated its commitment to enhancing readiness to expand its electric vehicle portfolio as the ecosystem developed.

Commentary on electric mobility stressed that adoption would vary by region according to affordability, convenience, charging infrastructure and usage patterns. The company indicated that multiple technologies, including ICE, EVs and alternative fuels, were likely to coexist for the foreseeable future. Honda signalled that it would focus on practical, reliable and customer-centric mobility solutions while monitoring demand and ecosystem maturity.
