Nalco Launches IA91 Grade Aluminium Alloy Ingot

National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), a Navratna central public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Mines, Government of India, launched a new IA91 Grade aluminium alloy ingot in Bhubaneswar on 25 February 2026. The product represents an addition to NALCO's value-added product portfolio and is presented as a high-performance silicon-based casting alloy engineered to balance castability with mechanical strength and corrosion resistance. The company stated that the launch was held at NALCO's Kolkata Stockyard in the presence of senior officials.

IA91 has been developed specifically for advanced casting processes and is particularly suited to gravity die casting and low-pressure die casting, where controlled fluidity and dimensional stability are required. Engineers designed the alloy composition to enhance mechanical properties while maintaining good castability for complex shapes and thin-wall sections. Improvements in corrosion resistance are expected to extend component life in demanding service environments.

Primary applications for IA91 include the automotive sector, electrical and power equipment manufacturing, heavy industrial machinery and foundry operations, where the combination of strength and castability can enable lighter, more efficient components. Adoption of such alloys can support manufacturers seeking to improve product performance and reduce material wastage during the casting process. NALCO plans to target customers across these industries through its marketing and distribution channels.

The product launch was overseen by Anil Kumar Singh, Director (Commercial), and was followed by remarks from Brijendra Pratap Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, who congratulated the production and marketing teams and described the development as reflecting the company's commitment to delivering high-quality, value-added products. The corporate communication department issued the release and the company disclosed details on its website to facilitate market access and transparency. The announcement is aimed at promoting uptake of the new grade among foundries and manufacturers.
