NBCC Subsidiary HSCL Wins Rs 1,589.5 mn Odisha Education Contracts

Hindustan Steelworks Construction Ltd (HSCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NBCC (India) Ltd, has secured four project management consultancy contracts worth about Rs 158.95 crore, roughly Rs 1,589.5 mn, for education infrastructure projects in Odisha, according to a stock exchange filing on July 10. The awards form part of a government procurement round and add to HSCL's portfolio in the education sector.

The orders include a mega education complex in Keonjhar district valued at Rs 70.59 crore (about Rs 705.9 mn) and associated works for DD University in the same complex worth Rs 17.24 crore (about Rs 172.4 mn), both awarded by the District Mineral Foundation, Keonjhar. HSCL also secured two contracts from the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan to build new Kendriya Vidyalaya campuses in Angul and Sambalpur, each valued at Rs 35.56 crore (about Rs 355.6 mn).

The latest wins follow fresh work orders announced earlier in the month totalling Rs 132.28 crore (about Rs 1,322.8 mn). Those earlier orders comprised contracts to construct permanent campuses for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in Assam's South Salmara and West Karbi Anglong districts, each valued at Rs 55.46 crore (about Rs 554.6 mn), and a Rs 21.36 crore (about Rs 213.6 mn) project for a 200-bed sports hostel in Sambalpur.

HSCL operates under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs as a wholly owned subsidiary of NBCC (India) Ltd, and the recent awards further strengthen NBCC's project pipeline in education and public infrastructure. NBCC currently has an order book of around Rs one point two lakh crore, equivalent to about Rs one point two tn, with projects worth nearly Rs 38,000 crore under execution, Rs 380 bn. The company plans to award another Rs 20,000 crore, about Rs 200 bn, in the current financial year, which would take projects under execution to around Rs 58,000 crore, about Rs 580 bn.

The additions bolster revenue visibility for the NBCC group and support delivery of public education facilities in the states concerned. HSCL's focus on government education projects underpins its near-term order inflows and execution workload.
