The route of a proposed 50 km elevated road linking Noida Sector 94 to Greater Noida Sector Chi-V was finalised after a meeting between the National Highways Authority of India and authorities from Noida, Greater Noida and the Yamuna authority this week, officials said. The decision follows consultations on alignment, land assessment and interauthority connectivity to support regional transport planning. Officials said the project is intended to improve links between existing expressways and the developing airport corridor. Planned as an eight-lane elevated expressway, the corridor is estimated to cost around Rs 40 bn and is intended to handle an anticipated surge in vehicular traffic arising from the Noida International Airport. The alignment will start at Sector 94 near Kalindi Kunj, run parallel to the Yamuna Pushta Road, cross the Hindon river and reach Greater Noida near Sector Chi-V. Officials added that the design will seek to integrate existing road infrastructure to minimise disruption during construction. Between the Yamuna Expressway and the Yamuna river the alignment will pass through Gharbhara, Mursadpur and sectors 27, 26, 24 and 24A before linking to the Faridabad-Jewar Greenfield Expressway between Sector 23C and 23H of the Yamuna authority, officials said. Near Jagannathpur village the elevated road will extend about two km to the left to connect with the under-construction Majhawali Bridge that links Greater Noida with Faridabad, thereby providing a direct route to the Faridabad Greenfield Expressway. Out of the 51 km corridor, around 27 km from Sector 94 to Sector 150 will fall under the Noida authority’s jurisdiction. With alignment finalised, the National Highways Authority of India is preparing a detailed project report and the Noida authority has submitted revenue maps of 26 villages for land assessment. Officials noted that the starting point at Sector 94 will provide a direct connection to Delhi’s Kalindi Kunj and thereby to the Noida International Airport. A second phase is proposed to extend the corridor from Sector 94 to Delhi’s Akshardham along the Pushta Road, and the DPR for that phase will be prepared at a later stage.
