Tata Adds AC Cabins to All Trucks for Driver Comfort

Tata Motors has introduced factory-fitted air-conditioned (AC) cabins across its entire truck range, a first in the Indian commercial vehicle sector. The upgrade spans popular models such as the SFC, LPT, Ultra, Signa, and Prima, and notably extends to cowl variants as well. The move aims to reduce driver fatigue, enhance operational efficiency, and ultimately deliver long-term value for fleet operators and truck owners.

Rajesh Kaul, Vice President and Business Head – Trucks, Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles, stated, “The introduction of air-conditioned cabins and cowls marks a significant step towards building a comfortable working environment for drivers, enabling higher productivity. In addition to complying with regulatory requirements, we have leveraged this opportunity to deliver long-term value with a host of enhancements.”

The AC systems come with dual-mode cooling – Eco and Heavy – allowing drivers to regulate cabin temperature based on load and weather conditions, while also ensuring energy efficiency.

Alongside the AC cabins, Tata Motors has rolled out a series of performance upgrades. Heavy-duty trucks, including tipper and prime mover models, now offer power outputs of up to 316 bhp. Additional features include engine idle auto-shutoff to minimise fuel consumption during long halts and a voice alert system that provides real-time notifications to the driver.

For fleet owners, the focus remains on reducing the total cost of ownership (TCO). Tata Motors highlights that these upgrades, developed using extensive customer feedback, are designed to boost fuel efficiency and operational performance.

These enhancements are supported by Tata Motors’ expansive after-sales and service infrastructure, comprising over 3,000 touchpoints under the Sampoorna Seva 2.0 programme. The company’s connected fleet platform, Fleet Edge, also continues to offer real-time data insights to help fleet operators manage performance, monitor driver behaviour, and lower operating costs.

With these changes, Tata Motors is not only setting new benchmarks in driver comfort but also reinforcing its commitment to innovation and customer-centric solutions in the commercial vehicle space.
