UNDP Launches #ClimateCounts Campaign to Counter Climate Misinformation

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has launched #ClimateCounts, a global campaign aimed at countering climate misinformation by showcasing 30 verified climate facts through engaging visual content. The initiative seeks to place evidence-based information at the centre of public dialogue and make climate change feel more personal, urgent and actionable.
The campaign coincides with COP 30 in Belém, Brazil, and marks the 10th anniversary of the Paris Agreement. It forms part of UNDP’s broader effort to spark informed conversations and mobilise communities towards collective climate action.
As part of the global rollout, UNDP India is highlighting a major national achievement — 50 per cent of India’s installed electricity capacity now comes from non-fossil fuel sources. This milestone reflects India’s accelerating clean-energy transition and its growing leadership in climate action within the Global South.
“#ClimateCounts reminds us that progress is possible when we act together, guided by science and evidence,” said Dr Angela Lusigi, Resident Representative, UNDP India. She added that India’s achievements demonstrate the impact of matching ambition with concrete action and emphasised that the campaign aims to inspire informed, sustainability-focused choices.
Globally, the campaign will be amplified by UNDP Goodwill Ambassadors and youth climate champions. In India, National SDG Advocate Bhumi Pednekar and Youth Climate Champion Prajakta Koli are helping raise awareness and engagement.
The campaign will initially be available in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese, with additional languages to follow. It seeks to close information gaps, strengthen climate literacy and encourage communities to take — and demand — effective climate action.
#ClimateCounts reinforces UNDP’s evidence-driven climate initiatives. Through its Climate Promise, the UNDP supports over 140 countries with more than USD 2.45 billion in grant financing across areas such as adaptation, mitigation, carbon markets, climate policy and climate-risk management. In India, UNDP implements climate and disaster risk reduction programmes worth over USD 200 million in partnership with government ministries, private companies, philanthropic organisations and civil-society groups.
