Adani Launches Rs 1.5 Billion Vision Care Project in Bihar

Gautam Adani, Chairman, Adani Group, has launched a Rs 1.5 billion rural vision care initiative in Bihar aimed at creating one of the country’s largest rural eye care ecosystems.

The initiative includes the development of the Adani Centre for Eye (ACE) and Adani Training in Ophthalmic Medicine (ATOM) in partnership with Akhand Jyoti Foundation. The facilities will have the capacity to conduct 330,000 eye surgeries annually and train around 1,000 eye health professionals every year.

The project, located in Mastichak near Patna, is focused on strengthening affordable eye treatment, rural outreach and healthcare skilling across underserved communities.

The Adani Foundation also announced plans to establish a 200-bed hospital in Pirpainti, Bhagalpur district, near the Group’s upcoming 2,400 MW thermal power plant.

Additionally, Gautam Adani announced a further Rs 5 billion commitment through the newly created “Adani Akhand Jyoti Foundation” to expand affordable vision care and community healthcare initiatives across India.

The total planned investment, including operational expenditure, is expected to exceed Rs 7 billion.

The initiative will also include deployment of patient transport services to improve last-mile healthcare access in remote villages across Bihar and adjoining regions.

Gautam Adani said the initiative reflects the philosophy of “Seva Hi Saadhna Hai” and aims to create long-term institutions focused on restoring dignity, hope and healthcare access.

According to the company, the initiative aligns with the Government of India’s National Programme for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment and builds on the Adani Foundation’s broader healthcare and community outreach efforts.
