Vaishvi Hospital, Vadodara, has been conferred the prestigious IGBC Green Healthcare Certification Plaque by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), part of CII. The award recognises the hospital’s commitment to sustainable healthcare infrastructure and eco-conscious operations.

The plaque was handed over to Dr. Jaimeen Jesalpura, Director, Vaishvi Hospitals, by Ms. Shreya Dalwadi, Chairperson, IGBC Vadodara Chapter, along with other IGBC officials. Vaishvi Hospital has emerged as a model for green healthcare design, integrating strategies that enhance environmental performance, patient well-being, and operational efficiency.

Key green features include:

Daylighting & Outdoor Views: Over 110 lux in 100 per cent of occupied areas, 95 per cent floor area with natural light, and outdoor sightlines for 77.8 per cent of patient areas.

Energy Efficiency: 76 per cent energy savings over baseline, with a 20 kW onsite solar system and energy-efficient systems throughout.

Water Conservation: Rainwater harvesting of 8.9 m³/day, 12 per cent water savings via efficient fixtures, and site-level runoff management.

Waste Management: Organic waste converted to manure, campus-wide segregation, and recycling to minimise landfill impact.

Occupant Wellness: Dedicated zones for staff relaxation including Sports Rehab, TV, Dining, and Music Rooms; biophilic design to improve patient recovery.

Dr. Jaimeen Jesalpura said, “Our green building serves Mother Nature and society while ensuring top-tier patient care. Sustainability is embedded in our operations, inspired by environmental stewardship initiatives from the Swadhyay Parivar.”

Dr. Neha, Director, added, “Achieving Green Certification is the beginning of a journey. Every step we take today shapes a sustainable and brighter tomorrow.”

The recognition highlights the role of healthcare institutions in promoting sustainable buildings. IGBC Green Healthcare standards improve patient recovery, staff wellness, and resilience, while lowering lifecycle costs through energy, water, and resource efficiency.
