Alwar Station Redevelopment Advances With Modern Amenities

Union ministers and state leaders virtually laid the foundation and dedicated projects worth Rs four billion (bn) across Rajasthan, and detailed a major redevelopment at Alwar railway station under the Amrit Bharat Station scheme valued at Rs one point one two billion (bn). The project is being advanced to address rising passenger demand on the Delhi–Jaipur route and to provide improved traffic management, organised arrival and departure areas and modern passenger amenities.

The Alwar redevelopment will feature entry facilities on both sides, an additional high?level platform, two foot overbridges of six?metre width and nine modern lifts to enhance passenger movement. The new station complex is being developed over an area of 16,000 square metres and will include dedicated pick?up and drop?off zones for private vehicles, taxis and auto?rickshaws to streamline circulation.

A new parking facility of approximately 4,500 square metres and nearly 1,900 square metres of commercial space are included to improve accessibility and to boost tourism, trade and local employment. The authorities noted that three stations in the Alwar area have been completed and that redevelopment work is ongoing at 85 stations in the state, with 15 already finished and 1,340 stations identified for development nationally under the scheme.

The ministry reported that Rajasthan now operates five Vande Bharat Express services and one Amrit Bharat Express, and that a total of 46 new trains have been provided to the state in recent years to strengthen connectivity. Allocation for rail projects in the state has risen to Rs 102.28 bn compared with earlier levels, supporting expanded services and infrastructure works.

Nearly 3,900 kilometres of track have been laid in the state since 2014 and 10 Gati Shakti cargo terminals have been commissioned, while six more are under construction and eight have received approval. Multiple doubling, gauge conversion and new?line projects are advancing across the region to improve freight and passenger operations and to integrate conventional rail with regional rapid transit planning.
