Divisional Commissioner Anshul Garg Chairs Traffic Management Meeting

Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Anshul Garg chaired a multi-disciplinary meeting on traffic management to review measures aimed at improving road safety and easing congestion. The meeting brought together senior officials to assess current arrangements and identify areas requiring coordinated action. The Div Com emphasised the need for an integrated approach across departments.\n\nSenior representatives from the police, traffic wing, municipal authorities and the public works department attended and outlined operational challenges affecting traffic flow. Officials highlighted peak hour bottlenecks, parking spillovers and points of recurring congestion and submitted initial assessments. The discussion also covered the role of transport agencies and emergency services in ensuring seamless movement.\n\nThe agenda addressed immediate and medium term interventions including traffic regulation, rationalisation of parking, enhancement of signage and streamlining of major intersections. Participants examined options for targeted enforcement and measures to improve pedestrian safety near markets and educational institutions. The meeting reviewed potential deployment of technology such as adaptive signal control and traffic monitoring systems to better manage volumes. Officers were asked to map critical stretches and propose prioritised actions.\n\nThe Div Com directed departments to prepare a consolidated action plan with clear timelines and responsibilities for implementation and monitoring. Regular coordination meetings were instructed to track progress and to enable rapid responses to emergent issues. Emphasis was placed on public awareness campaigns and stakeholder engagement to support behavioural change and compliance. Follow up reviews were scheduled to evaluate the effectiveness of measures and to refine interventions where necessary.\n\nStakeholders were urged to share data and analytic inputs to facilitate evidence based interventions and to establish clear metrics for success. The Div Com underlined the importance of regular reporting and inter agency cooperation to reduce incidents and improve journey times for commuters. Departments were tasked to submit progress updates ahead of the next review.
