New Elevated Road Planned in Noida to Ease Delhi NCR Commute

Authorities are planning a new elevated road in Noida to tackle heavy congestion and improve traffic flow along a busy commuter corridor. The proposal involves extending the under construction Chilla Elevated Road so the descending ramp links directly to the Sector-94 roundabout and offers a direct route toward the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. Officials say the plan aims to ease travel.

The proposed extension will span around two kilometres and is expected to relieve congestion near Film City and other high traffic zones. Planners anticipate a smoother distribution of vehicles across surface roads and elevated sections, which should reduce stop start movement during peak hours. The design seeks to maintain access to local roads while improving throughput for long distance commuters.

The Chilla Elevated Road is already under construction and will form a five point nine six kilometre corridor linking Mayur Vihar flyover in Delhi to an area near the Mahamaya flyover in Noida. The corridor is intended to strengthen intercity connectivity and provide an uninterrupted elevated link that reduces dependency on congested surface arterial roads during busy periods and daily life. The alignment has been planned to dovetail with existing transport links.

Officials expect the completed corridor and its extension to cut travel time significantly and to reduce pressure on surrounding roads used by commuters. The measures are aimed at streamlining movement for thousands who commute daily between Delhi and Noida and at enhancing reliability of schedules during peak periods. Traffic managers anticipate fewer bottlenecks and more predictable journey times for commuters.

The project faces an engineering challenge because the Delhi Metro Magenta Line runs along parts of the proposed route. Engineers plan to construct the elevated road above the metro track so both systems can function without disruption and safety standards are preserved. Coordination with metro authorities and local agencies will be required to manage construction and minimise impact on services.
