NHAI To Build Bridge And Two Kilometre Road At Masani Barrage

National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will build a bridge and a two-kilometre road to ease congestion at the Masani Barrage near Gurugram. The project is intended to provide an alternative route around the barrage that has been a recurring traffic bottleneck for commuters and freight moving between Gurugram and neighbouring districts. Officials indicated the measure forms part of broader efforts to strengthen regional connectivity and reduce travel times on arterial routes. The initiative is expected to benefit daily commuters and commercial traffic.

The bridge and approach road will bypass the existing crossing over the barrage and link with the nearby national highway, offering uninterrupted movement during peak hours and seasonal closures. The two-kilometre length is designed to integrate with existing infrastructure while seeking to improve traffic flow and safety for motorised and non-motorised users. Planning documents note that the layout aims to prevent congestion spillover onto local roads by providing clear entry and exit points. Designers will seek to maintain local access during construction.

NHAI will coordinate with the Haryana state administration and local authorities to finalise the alignment, secure clearances and issue tenders for construction. The project scheduling will follow statutory approvals and standard procurement timelines, with contractors expected to mitigate any disruption during execution through phased works and traffic management. Stakeholder consultations are planned to address concerns related to access, livelihoods and construction impacts. Local residents will be consulted as plans are finalised.

Authorities expect the new link to support economic activity by lowering vehicle delay and improving reliability for goods movement, emergency services and daily commuters. The scheme is also intended to enhance resilience during monsoon seasons when the barrage area has previously affected traffic continuity. Continued monitoring and maintenance will be necessary to ensure long term benefits for the region.
