Delhi-Amritsar High-Speed Rail survey begins

The Indian Railways has initiated land surveys for the forthcoming high-speed rail project connecting Delhi and Amritsar. The survey commenced in Punjab's Dadiana Village and includes a socio-economic assessment for future land acquisition. IIM-Research, New Delhi, is overseeing the project, with teams engaging with local residents in Fatehgarh Sahib and Mohali districts. The survey focuses on determining if the land earmarked for acquisition is the primary source of livelihood, with an emphasis on agricultural land.

The railway corridor will feature a dedicated 55-foot-wide track for bullet trains, designed to operate at speeds of up to 320 km/hr, significantly reducing travel time from 5 hours to 2 hours between Delhi and Amritsar. The proposed route will start from Dwarka in Delhi, with stops in Sonepat, Panipat, Kurukshetra, Jalandhar, and Amritsar. This project is part of a larger initiative to establish a High-Speed Rail Network connecting major cities, including Mumbai, Ahmedabad, New Delhi, Chennai, and Kolkata.
