DMRC Reopens Entry Gates At Mandi House And Central Secretariat

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has reopened the entry gates at Mandi House and Central Secretariat metro stations, restoring full passenger movement at two key central Delhi nodes. The DMRC also reported that entry and exit gates at Jhandewalan station on the Blue Line have been reopened for passengers after an earlier restriction. The service update was posted on X and confirmed that normal access has resumed while certain security measures remain in place.

DMRC had earlier announced the temporary closure of 16 metro stations as part of security protocols, while ensuring that train switching options remained available at major interchange nodes. Stations listed as closed until further instructions included Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Barakhambha Road, Supreme Court, Seva Teerth, Janpath, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, ITO, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Khan Market, Jor Bagh and Shivaji Stadium. Despite those closures, interchange facilities were retained at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House and Central Secretariat to allow passenger transfers across lines.

The shutdown coincided with the third day of Parliament's Monsoon Session and related security measures in the vicinity of Jantar Mantar and the parliamentary complex. Authorities had earlier closed five central Delhi stations on a previous occasion this week amid stepped up security arrangements. The action followed a call by the CJP for a Chalo Sansad march, prompting Delhi Police to heighten precautions in areas surrounding the route and legislative precincts.

Security deployments included personnel from the Rapid Action Force positioned nearby to respond to protests and to help secure movement during the session. The metro operator provided details of the locations affected by the protocols and clarified how passenger transfers would be managed at interchange points. Commuters were advised to monitor official channels for further updates as the situation evolved.
