ER builds 11 road over & under bridges till now

In accordance with the prioritization set by the Indian Railways regarding the construction of Road Over Bridges (ROB) and Road Under Bridges (RUB) to remove manned level crossing gates, it was reported that in the present financial year 2023-24, the Eastern Railway has constructed a total of 11 ROBs and RUBs up to the current date.

The officials of the Railways mentioned that during the financial year 2022-23, a total of 145 ROBs and RUBs were built across the Indian Railways, and in the ongoing financial year 2023-24, the number has reached 163.

From 2014 to 2023, the Eastern Railway had successfully completed the construction of 199 ROBs and RUBs. The Railways stated that the replacement of manned level crossings with ROBs and RUBs holds the potential to result in significant cost savings, as well as provide a convenient means for local residents to cross the railway tracks without delays at level crossings. This transition is expected to save time, fuel, and enhance safety of train operations by eliminating level crossings.

The officials added that this initiative will contribute to an overall enhancement in the efficiency of railway operations and will ensure the safety of the public traveling both by road and rail.
