Indian Railways' Ambitious ?4 Lakh Crore Multi-Track Proposal

Indian Railways has unveiled an ambitious ?4 lakh crore plan to multi-track seven of the country's busiest railway routes. This proposal aims to enhance passenger and freight traffic capacity, reduce congestion, and improve overall operational efficiency.

The plan includes the multi-tracking of seven key routes: Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Howrah (Kolkata), Delhi- Chennai, Delhi-Kanpur, Mumbai-Kolkata, Mumbai-Chennai, and Howrah-Chennai. These routes are currently experiencing high traffic volumes and are the lifelines of India's railway network.

By multi-tracking these routes, Indian Railways aims to significantly increase the speed of train operations, which will result in reduced travel time and enhanced reliability. Additionally, the plan aims to cater to the growing demand for freight transportation, providing a boost to the economy.
