Namo Bharat Trains Begin High-Speed Trials in Meerut

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has commenced high-speed trial runs of Namo Bharat trains between Meerut South and Meerut Central, covering four intermediate stations. The trials, conducted at speeds of up to 120 kmph, focus on weight distribution, safety parameters, and seamless system integration.

A video released by NCRTC highlights the integration of advanced signalling systems, platform screen doors, and traction technology, ensuring a smooth and efficient commuter experience. Earlier test runs were conducted on a six-kilometre stretch between Meerut South and Shatabdi Nagar, with the latest phase extending trials further along the corridor.

Notably, for the first time, a local metro service will operate on Namo Bharat infrastructure, marking a significant milestone in regional connectivity. The Meerut Metro, part of the broader Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), will span 13 stations along a 23-km route. Full operations are expected to commence by the end of June 2025.
