NFR Restores Railway Lines At New Harangajao

Maligaon, third September 2026. Northeast Frontier Railway has completed restoration work on Line Nos two and three at New Harangajao station after settlement of railway tracks, allowing train operations to be progressively normalised through the two lines.

The restoration will facilitate smoother movement of trains through the section while enhanced safety measures continue to be maintained. Restoration work on Line No one near New Harangajao is also underway on a priority basis and will be addressed to restore full operational capacity. Regular inspections and continuous monitoring will be carried out and temporary speed restrictions will remain in force until full restoration and verification of track stability is completed.

In view of the ongoing restoration activities, Northeast Frontier Railway announced changes to scheduled train services to ensure safe and efficient operations. Train number 15615, the Guwahati to Silchar express that was scheduled to commence its journey on the fourth of September, has been cancelled while train number 15650, the Narangi to Agartala express scheduled for the fourth of September has been rescheduled to depart Narangi at 6:30 pm and train number 20507, the Sairang to Anand Vihar Terminal express scheduled for the same day has been rescheduled to depart Sairang at 8:10 pm. Alternative arrangements and contingency plans have been coordinated with neighbouring stations and control offices to manage traffic and passenger needs during the restoration period.

Northeast Frontier Railway said the adjustments are intended to facilitate safe, smooth and efficient movement of services while restoration persists and that updates will be issued as work progresses. Passengers and stakeholders have been urged to check revised timetables and official notices before travel as restoration and monitoring continue in the affected section. Further announcements will be issued through official channels and station notices and helplines where available for assistance.
