Pune Metro: Yerwada station opens, completing Vanaz-Ramwadi line

Pune Metro?s Vanaz to Ramwadi corridor is now fully operational with the inauguration of Yerwada Metro Station on August 21. This station, the final piece of Line 2, will be open for commercial service daily from 6 am to 10 pm. While the Metro service had been running on the route, Yerwada station is the last to be opened. Its addition completes the Vanaz-Ramwadi stretch, enhancing connectivity for commuters traveling between Yerwada, Pune, and Pimpri-Chinchwad, benefiting students, professionals, and residents alike. The new station?s design pays tribute to the historic Dandi March, reflecting a significant moment in India?s freedom struggle and offering a meaningful connection to the nation?s heritage. Maha Metro Managing Director Shravan Hardikar expressed his satisfaction, stating, ?The opening of Yerwada Metro station is a major milestone in our mission to provide efficient and convenient public transport to the citizens of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.? Work is progressing on the Pimpri-Chinchwad to Swargate route, with completion of the underground section between Civil Court and Swargate expected next month. Extensions are also underway for routes from Pimpri-Chinchwad to Nigdi and from Katraj to Swargate. (FE)
