RailTel Wins Rs 1.02bn PFMS IT Infrastructure Contract

RailTel Corporation of India on Thursday, January 8, said it has secured a Rs 1.02 billion contract from the Public Financial Management System for the creation and management of critical IT infrastructure.

In a regulatory filing, RailTel said the mandate covers the setting up and managed operations of IT systems, including data centre and disaster recovery facilities. The scope of work also includes security operations centre services and data centre colocation. The contract, awarded by a domestic entity, will remain valid until January 7, 2031.

The company clarified that neither its promoters nor promoter group entities have any interest in the awarding authority, and that the order does not constitute a related-party transaction.

The latest win adds to RailTel’s growing order book of large government-led IT and digital infrastructure projects, strengthening its presence across data centres, cloud services, cyber security and managed services for public sector clients.

Last week, the company had secured a significantly larger Rs 5.67 billion order from the Assam Health Infrastructure Development and Management Society for a project scheduled for completion by January 31, 2032.

On the financial front, RailTel reported a 4.7 per cent year-on-year rise in net profit to Rs 0.76 billion for Q2 FY26, compared with Rs 0.73 billion in the same quarter last year. Revenue increased 12.8 per cent to Rs 9.51 billion from Rs 8.44 billion in Q2 FY25. Ebitda rose 19.4 per cent to Rs 1.54 billion from Rs 1.29 billion a year earlier, while the Ebitda margin improved to 16.2 per cent from 15.3 per cent.

Shares of RailTel Corporation of India were trading 3.34 per cent lower at Rs 356.40 as of 1.29 am. The stock has gained 14.92 per cent over the past month.
