RITES Awarded DPR Contract For Nagpur Metro Phase Three

RITES Limited (RITES) has been awarded the Detailed Project Report (DPR) contract for Nagpur Metro Phase Three, the consultant said. The assignment will involve preparation of a comprehensive DPR covering route alignment, station locations, structural design parameters and preliminary cost estimates to support further approvals. The DPR will also encompass ridership forecasting, traffic integration studies and initial assessments of land acquisition needs.

RITES is a transport infrastructure consultant with experience in urban rail projects and will be required to conduct topographical surveys, geotechnical investigations and utility mapping as part of the study. The scope includes evaluation of multimodal connectivity options, station accessibility planning and recommendations for depot and systems requirements. Environmental and social baseline studies are to be undertaken to inform mitigation measures and compliance with regulatory frameworks.

Nagpur Metro Phase Three seeks to extend the existing mass transit network to enhance urban mobility and improve links between residential, commercial and industrial areas within the metropolitan region. The programme includes planning for integration with the current metro lines and other modes of public transport to facilitate seamless journeys for commuters. The DPR is intended to provide an evidence base for investment decisions and to define technical standards for subsequent design and tendering stages.

The award of the DPR contract follows project initiation procedures led by municipal and state authorities and aligns with broader efforts to expand sustainable urban transport infrastructure. The consultant will prepare documentation to support statutory clearances and funding discussions and to guide detailed design activity. Stakeholders including the metro operating entity, urban development agencies and civic bodies will review the DPR outputs during the approval process overall.
