Telangana fails to re-submit Warangal Metro proposal

Telangana has failed to re-submit its proposal for the Warangal Metro Neo project covering a length of 15.5 km at a cost of Rs 9.98 billion, parliament was informed this week. The proposal for the project was received by the Centre in March 2021, and after examination, the state government was requested to re-submit the proposal incorporating the observations of the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). However, no reply has been given.

Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Kaushal Kishore told the Rajya Sabha that his ministry had not received any proposal from the Telangana government for metro projects in cities like Karimnagar, Nizamabad and Khammam.

The Minister said that the State government plans to implement the Airport Express Metro Corridor, which will connect Shamshabad and Rajendranagar.
