Polavaram dam to commence concrete works on Dec 19

Concrete works at the mega Polavaram project on the Godavari in West Godavari district is expected to begin on December 19, according to reports.

Work on the diaphragm wall is expected to begin in the first week of January, while work on the fabrication of gates in the second week of the same month. It is known that earth works at the site were at a brisk pace. The total quantity of excavation by March 2017, will be of the order of 4,002,000 lakh cu m at the project site, reports indicate.

Further, it is known that 19 cement companies have been urged to supply cement to the project and various other projects being taken up in Andhra Pradesh at reasonable rates. As per reports, these companies have agreed to supply cement at Rs 230 per bag for CC roads and housing projects in the state; Rs 240 per bag for other projects; and Rs 250 per bag for the Polavaram project.
