Maharashtra Invites Bids For 200 MW Floating Solar And Hydro Upgrade

The Water Resources Department of the Government of Maharashtra has invited bids from eligible contractors and developers for two major renewable energy and infrastructure projects at Parbhani and Hingoli under a public-private partnership model. The Executive Engineer of the Purna Irrigation Division at Basmathnagar issued the tender as E-Tender Notice number two for the financial year 2026-27. The procurement covers redevelopment of an existing hydroelectric facility and the development of a large floating solar with battery energy storage on the Purna Project reservoir.\n\nThe hydro component comprises upgradation, operation, maintenance and management of the existing 22.5 megawatt (MW) Yeldari Dam hydroelectric plant to enhance operational efficiency and maximise generation from the site. The award will be to a selected developer under the PPP framework and is intended to improve maintenance and asset performance over the concession period. Details of the concession duration and technical obligations are set out in the bid documents on the state e-tender portal.\n\nThe second project seeks development of a 200 MW floating solar photovoltaic (FSPV) installation integrated with a battery energy storage system (BESS) on the reservoir surface to support grid stability and increase renewable utilisation. The authority issued the preliminary notice on 24 July 2026 and made detailed bid documents available from 28 July 2026 to 11 August 2026, with technical bids scheduled to be opened on 12 August 2026. The tender notice stated that information on earnest money deposit and performance bank guarantee was not included and must be obtained from the online tender dossier.\n\nAll bidding activities must be completed online through the Maharashtra government e-tender portal and the department advised bidders to monitor the portal for corrigenda and modifications as no separate notifications will be issued. The combined approach of hydropower modernisation and floating solar with energy storage is presented as a means to expand clean generation while making efficient use of water infrastructure. Interested parties are directed to the official portal for full terms and conditions.
