Bengaluru to Host CCUS-Focused Climate Conference

GPS Renewables will host The Boring Climate Conference 2026 on March 28 at Taj MG Road, bringing together scientists, industry leaders, investors and policymakers to discuss scaling Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) in India.

The conference comes amid increased policy focus on CCUS, with the Union Budget 2026–27 allocating Rs 200 billion to support decarbonisation in sectors such as power, steel, cement, refineries and chemicals. India already has pilot projects underway, including a carbon capture facility at NTPC Vindhyachal Super Thermal Power Station, with efforts now shifting towards large-scale deployment.

The event will include members of the High-Level Task Force constituted by the Department of Science and Technology, focusing on strategy, regulatory frameworks and infrastructure for CCUS deployment.

Commenting on the initiative, Nipun OS, Chief Sustainability Officer, GPS Renewables, said, “The Boring Climate Conference is an effort to bring together researchers, industry leaders, investors, and policymakers to discuss some of the most complex challenges in India’s climate transition. Through this conference, we want to create a platform where different stakeholders can come together to identify key challenges, explore solutions, and focus on what it will take to move climate-positive technologies from research to real projects in India.”

The conference will feature experts from leading research institutions, industry and investment firms, reflecting a multi-stakeholder approach to advancing climate technologies in India.
