CSR Foundation and PNB Housing to upskill 13,000 construction workers

Continuing its commitment to improve the lives of construction workers, the Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (CREDAI) CSR Foundation signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with PNB Housing Finance (PNBHFL) to train 13,000 construction workers on and off site, across India.

As part of this initiative, CREDAI and PNB Housing have collaborated with eight skill institutes to roll out the programme in selected cities across 15 states: Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.

The skill development training programme will reinforce the prior learning of construction workers, thereby including them in the mainstream workforce, assuring formal, continuous employment and its benefits. It also aims to upgrade their skills to meet global benchmarks, which in turn will increase productivity.

“The joint association will help in the social and economic upliftment of construction workers, thereby further contributing to the Indian economy,” says Satish Magar, President, CREDAI National. “As an apex realty body, CREDAI aims to train over 1 lakh workers in the next two years, and our association with PNBHFL will give us an ideal platform to achieve this objective.”

And Sanjaya Gupta, Managing Director, PNB Housing Finance, says, “The initiative is in line with the Government’s Skill India Mission programme, a vision to make India the world’s skill capital. With this partnership, we believe we will be able to make construction workers enhance their skills, earn better wages in times to come and thereby upgrade their lives and families.”
