Marriott to build a 26-storey hotel in 90 days

Marriott, one of the world’s largest hotel chain, will soon claim to have the world’s tallest modular hotel when the AC Hotel New York NoMad opens next year. However, unlike other hotels, this one is expected to be completed in 90 days.

The 26-storey tower will rise 360 ft tall at 30th Street and 6th Avenue, and is expected to be a game-changing symbol to ignite greater interest in modular among the real estate and lending industries.

The hotel’s 168 rooms are expected to be fabricated in Poland, with painted walls, flooring, beds, sheets, pillows and bath products. These finished modules will be reportedly then shipped to New York City. Although the lobby and restaurant will be built with the help of traditional construction methods, the rooftop bar will be modular.

The construction of the project is expected to begin in the fall and will most likely take about three months to finish the project. Danny Forster’s firm Danny Forster & Architecture has designed the project. Reportedly, the construction will take place at the rate of an entire floor per day.

Modular construction is not new in New York City, but it is still unusual. The Pod, Brooklyn and CitizenM, Manhattan have used this construction design in their properties.
