Protest against Pune's proposed amenity plot auction

Citizens have expressed objections to PMRDA?s decision to conduct an e-auction for 28 proposed amenity plots in the newly acquired villages in the absence of a development plan for them up to this point.

The Hinjewadi Employees and Residents Trust have written to the Pune Metropolitan Development Authority (PMRDA), urging them to halt the auction process. Dnyanendra Hulsure, the president, informed that the state had not yet sanctioned the development plan (DP) for PMRDA.

He explained, "The provision of amenity spaces is outlined in the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act and the Development Control and Promotion Regulation. This is to ensure that local bodies?gram panchayat or Zilla Parishad?utilize them to provide basic public civic infrastructure."

PMRDA had recently announced the auction of amenity plots in Hinjewadi, Wagholi, Manjari, Bhugaon, Pirangut, and Maan areas because they had not yet been determined in the DP, which was still pending finalisation.

Members of the Hinjewadi Employees and Residents Trust asserted that they had informed PMRDA authorities about issues related to water supply, electricity, waste management, and civic infrastructure. In a meeting convened under Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, residents had raised the concern that, on one hand, the government claimed it lacked land for civic infrastructure projects, while on the other hand, PMRDA was auctioning land to private players.

Producers have scaled back output in response to fuel shortages and logistical challenges affecting domestic fertiliser production and have implemented staggered shutdowns to manage inventories. The disruptions have heightened..
