Trichy's first high-rise residential project starts construction

The Tamil Nadu Housing Board (TNHB) has begun the construction of the first high-rise residential project of the city for the high-income group (HIG) class at Varaganeri.

TNHB will also develop a high-rise block of more than 18.30 m in height on the same campus for the middle-income group (MIG) and low-income group (LIG) sections.

Earlier, TNHB was renting out 48 flats to the public in Varaganeri near Palpannai (Chennai-Trichy NH and Thanjavur-Trichy NH intersection). With the declining stability of the structure, TNHB offered to demolish the current flats and construct a high-rise residential project with facilities such as multiple elevators, covered car parking, power back-up, green space for children, and CCTV security.

The HIG block with 14 floors will include 56 units, all measuring 1,500 to 1,575 sqft floor area, consisting of three bedrooms and is expected to be sold at Rs 69 lakh per unit.

TNHB has also applied for administrative permission to build a high-rise residential tower, all for MIG (14 floors) and LIG (13 floors) categories.

A complete total of 192 units in three separate divisions will be sold to the public.

For the state government employees, TNHB has already started constructing a separate high-rise project in Mannarpuram.

An official with TNHB Trichy told the media that the site is near multiple highways, markets, and hospitals, and the demand was overwhelming throughout their market research.

He said that the flats would be in premium standard, and special attention is being given to the quality of flooring and elevation.
