Haryana Explores GlideWay Pod Taxi Partnership With Japan And US Firms

Haryana government is evaluating the implementation of a GlideWay pod taxi transit system to modernise urban mobility.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini met a high level delegation from Suzuki Motor Corporation of Japan and the US based GlideWay company at his official residence, Sant Kabir Kutir, to discuss collaboration on the project.

The discussions examined feasibility studies, corridor identification and detailed route planning, alongside technical compatibility and safety assessments.

Delegates outlined implementation stages and operational requirements, and officials reviewed options for local manufacturing, system maintenance and skills development to support long term operations.

The deliberations also covered investment models and the possibility of a public private partnership framework to mobilise capital and share risk between government and industry.

The state affirmed its commitment to develop world class infrastructure and to provide citizens with seamless, technology driven commuting options that will reduce pressure on existing road networks.

Officials said the system is being assessed for its potential to lower congestion, improve first and last mile connectivity and support low emission urban transport.

Integration with existing mass transit nodes and urban planning initiatives was described as a priority so that stations and corridors complement metropolitan growth and services.

Next steps include commissioning detailed technical and environmental studies, selecting pilot corridors and conducting stakeholder consultations with municipal agencies, transport planners and investors.

The government will evaluate regulatory requirements, land use adjustments and financing structures while seeking to attract both domestic and international partners for construction and operations.

Implementation timelines were not specified, and officials indicated that further approvals and detailed project reports will guide sequencing and procurement decisions.

The initiative is intended to create construction and operations employment and to stimulate local supply chains through component assembly and services.

The administration has committed to hold consultations and provide public updates as project milestones are reached.
